In early 2025 it was observed that the trail of Taylor's Pass barely exists anymore in places between L5 and the top of the pass due to reduced use by locals.

Please do not just use this gps data in isolation, do research on the pass by reading the Lotheni Pass and Ash Cave topics, as this pass has substantial sections without any trail, and a lot of bush that many people would be unprepared to endure.

There is a reasonable trail to the Ash Cave area. Each time I have gone this way, I have overnighted in Ash Cave, so my tracks all go to/past Ash Cave. There is a lower trail close to the river that bypasses Ash Cave, but I have not used it or recorded it.
