Fitness, why don't you buy them online and if you don't like them once you have them, take them back to a store?

@viking5 that's what I'm going to do, just a tad worries the size I order may be wrong but unless there sizing is slightly different I know I'm a UK 8 or European 42.

Got mine
They are really comfortable. Any maintenance tips by those of you out there who have Tibets?

Look after them. I haven't looked after my Thunder GTX's so well, and it shows and has shortened the life of the boots a lot

I wouldn't do much for the first year except wipe off muck with a damp cloth after hikes. They come with a pretty good DWR treatment which aggressive brushing will just take off. If water stops beading off just reapply a good DWR. Don't use wax products at all as it would render the gore-tex un-breathable...

So just to get some feedback in on my Tibets:
- First time this year I actually had dry shoes for the entire hike
- They are a tad heavy which is a bit annoying
Overall they are great boots though.

Some thoughts please
CUM don't stock La Sportivia down here in KZN so I decided to but a pair of Merrell Mattertal Gore Tex, it was a toss up between those and the Salamon Comet Premium GTX, the price difference is R600 but if it means I spend more for better then so be it.
I'll be using them for my 4day hike this long weekend with Ghaznavid, so if anyone has had experience good or bad with either please let me know urgently.

Some feedback on the Merrell Mattertal Gotrex boots, at first sight them seem a good quality boot and I'm sure they are but after my recent 4 day hike in them I have been left with blisters on each foot the size of an old R1 coin ( maybe a school boy error on my behalf getting new boots and hiking but with all the boots I've bought I've never had to "break" them in)
They were priced at R2099 and for that price I'd expect a lot more comfort and definitely a lot more water proof then they were.
We had 3 great weather days and only today did it drizzle our whole way back to the car approx 2 hours, and they amount of water that came out when I took them off was shocking.
So just a heads up, Merrell may be a good boot for work or causal but definitely not for hiking.

Fitness I was actually going to ask you how they held up.
I am kicking myself for not getting the Tibet's when they were on such a good special recently as now my so called "top-of-the-range" Hi-Tec's (oxymoron if ever there was)are falling apart after only 123km of hiking use!

@viking5 don't buy them.
I can kick myself for not buyin the tibets, I think for the extra R600 I'm goin to take them back and get the salamon comet premium.
They were as waterproof as my Middle of the range hi-tecs and way less comfy
