Hey guys
My boyfriend and I are wanting to do a two night hike in the berg in April. It will be his first multiday hike. We want to either stay in a cave or camp.
Is it possible to do both Tarn Cave and Lammergeier in one hike? Or is there another option?
If there are other options we can consider in the central berg let me know. We will be hiking alone so safety is a factor we need to consider. All the multiday hikes I've done are with a group.
Looking forward to getting some awesome advice.

Hi Jen, those caves are definitely possible.
It does depends on fitness though, but the route I would choose is Tarn cave and Thomathu cave, the hike in total will be 30km. It will involve some off path hiking but nothing extreme.
Let me know if you want a GPS track for this

Thank you.
Another option I was considering was doing Bannermans Cave or sleeping next to Bannermans Hut and then spending a night on top of Langlalibele and coming down the next morning. This does seem like a one nighter though instead of two. Is this a good idea for two people to do or is the other option safer?

As a casual hike its great to stay at Bannerman Hut on night 1, head up Bannerman pass, and then either tent, or you can stay at Bannerman cave, and then down Langies on day 3.

I did this route last weekend, as a one nighter, but it can be tough getting to the top in one day if the crew is not fit.Thank you.

We've booked the caves and super excited for the hike.
What is the water situation like from Tarn to Thomatu?
I know it's not great before Tarn and we need to have enough for the night and the next morning.

You will also get some coming down in the stream south of the south Knuckle
Your next water then should be at Thomathu cave, although not guaranteed, worst case you have to drop down in front of the cave
