Wow those prices are ridiculous, When i was last there in May i paid R110 at the first gate before witsieshoek, i then paid R120 at sentinel car park for the hike. The 4x4 courier service was R250 one way. so naturally i chose to rather hike the 7km.
I have been here 3 times over the last 3 years and each time i have paid a different amount.

@Riaang
The last time I went was in June 2023. I was alone, and paid R70 at the gate and hiked for four days and three nights and paid R220. I have a 4x4, so am able to negotiate the road with no issues. @Ralph. How many days were you hiking for? Were u leaving and comiung back to the car park?
I had heard that if u r camping in the Tugela basin the fees are much higher. I usually hike and camp in the Bilanjil basin for the first night and then usually head off to iCidi as I am out for at least 5 days. They seem then just to charge me the R80 per night.
Also, put a big star at the top of the hiking register on the page you are putting your route description, makes it easier to find in the mess from Tugela basin overnighters when it comes to sighning out.

Hiking fee (as of 16 August 2025) - R140 pppd.
"Conservation" fee - R110 per person @ the lower entrance gate. But if you arrive before 8ish on a weekend morning there is no one at the gate and you just drive through.
