I was in Mr Price Sport this past weekend and I noticed that there Trail range in tents and sleeping bags has changed somewhat, I am looking for a sleeping bag and I came across this one of there's
www.mrpricesport.com/getattachment/3d6a6a34-df07-4c49-8954-757802ac4a64/.aspx
It has the following specs
SIZE: 210CM X (85 & 55CM)
SHAPE: COWL
OUTER FABRIC: 300T NYLON RIPSTOP
INNER FABRIC: 300T MICRO POLYESTER
FILLING: 300 GM SILK-LIKE MICROFIBER, DOUBLE LAYER.
OTHER FEATURES: VELCRO ZIP FLAP,
COMPRESSION STUFF BAG, INSULATED ZIP EDGE & SHOULDER COLLAR,
ADJUSTABLE COWL HOOD, NON-SLIP UNDERSIDE FOR EXTREME
CONDITIONS.
COMFORT RATING: - 8 DEG
AVAILABLE IN SELECTED STORES

It goes for R599 and was wondering if rather go to CUM and buy the K-Way Apline Cowl for R450? R P seem to be getting better and better stuff but I don't feel like getting caught in the cold with a dodgy bag.

I looked at that bag at the Pavilion store last weekend, it doesn't have a weight on though, and the "specialist" who helped me seemed a bit puzzled why I was asking about the weight

I asked the same question but with no reply
However it definitely seems lighter than the Kway Apline cowl

The Alpine Cowl weighs 1.8kg, quite a bit compared to my Mountain Hardware Pinole -7 bag which is also synthetic but weighs 1.4kg.

I am curious to know what the durability will be on Trail sleeping bag. The one advantage of Kway in this comparison is that the bag will be backed by a pretty good after sales service and warranty. Not sure what Trail/Mr Price has to offer in that regard.

Had a close look at the tents this weekend at Mr Price Sport, they have a new trail expedition tent and its stats are as follows
SIZE: 260 X 210 X 125 CM
CAMPING CATEGORY: EXTREME CONDITIONS
FLYSHEET: WATERPROOF WITH 2000MM WATER COLUMN
INNER TENT: BREATHABLE WITH 450MM WATER COLUMN
GROUNDSHEET: BUILT IN SYSTEM NYLON OXFORD
POLES: ALUMINIUM ANODISED SERIES ELASTICATED
OTHER FEATURES: MOZZIE PROTECTION.
It weights 4.9kg which is quite heavy for a tent for hiking ,

We need someone to try these products out and I would be highly tested but for its weight and price at R2299 it is very expensive for a tent that may not even last one night.
Thoughts please

I'm tempted on that sleeping bag, who wants to take the leap?

Like I said, I'd love to test there stuff but it could be a costly and cold event.
I may contact MR Price Sport and ask them if they want there stuff tested in the berg.

I'd be careful...Ive seen too many low end tents give it in one way or the other. And at that price I wouldn’t gamble. If they give it to you for testing, then maybe. I still have my doubts though.
