Not really hey. Used it once in the berg last month at about 12°C so not much of a test, it definitely felt a lot warmer than my fleece though

Maybe check if it's got DWR treatment and what type of nylon particularly if it's ripstop or something robust and the weave is tight and doesn't let down escape. You should also be able to check fill weight of the down and if it's 600 fill or more should be good?

Those are the basics, otherwise it's all about fit and whether it seals out the elements. I like a jacket that has a waist drawcord for one.

Hope this helps?

PS. I did see a women's version at Due South and it looked good at a glance but I didn't study it in detail

According to the website its 700 fill, the label says 90/10 down. Does have hem drawcords. Only 1 way zip though. Will see if down leaks at all.

Hi All,

Not sure if anyone is using anything made by these guys.

www.makoti.co.za//aboutmain.php?pagename=about_sleepingbags.php

Their prices seem reasonable + they're local + they specialise in Down Products. Anyone have an opinion on them?

That PrimaLoft jacket looks interesting. I came very close to buying the down jacket a few weeks ago when I was looking, decided to go with the Hi-Tec instead. I think the Columbia is a very good buy too. I just couldn't find its weight anywhere.

B) I noticed that CUM is now selling a very lightweight down sweater weighing 280 grams and filled with 650 weight down. There is also a womans version weighing 240 grams. Mens is a light blue and womens is white/ cream (odd choice and not practicle). Looks decent enough...

I forgot to mention... their down sweaters are priced at R 1299 which is reasonable. My Patagonia down sweater which I bought off Amazon is technically better with 850 fill down and will be warmer but weighs 50 grams more and was R 1700.
