Is there a booking system for the hut on the Amphi?

Not sure if there is a booking system (and even if there is I suspect that 'first come-first served' will prevail).
However, the hut seems to be in a permanently abused state with litter including tins, milk cartons, bottles & broken glass and the remains of fires strewn all over, inside & outside the hut. It is still usable, but you will have a much nicer stay if you take a hand-brush and some plastic bags to help you clean up before you settle in.

make a difference. today.

That is a great idea, instead of a tent I will take a Broom.
We slept there once before, and I enjoyed it a lot.

I agree with your 1st come 1st serve basis. But I don't think this weekend will be an issue. Worst case we will have to share the hut...

There isn't a booking system that I know of, but youll be fine to use it otherwise....
It is quite hard to spot though, so try to be there during the day.....

In clear daylight it is relatively easy to spot, if you know where to look - but yes, it can be quite well hidden in the dark. Memories of looking for it at 7PM on the Easter Weekend in 2013 with no luck.

Good afternoon

I’m planning to hike to Mount Aux Sources with a couple of friends and spending a night or two on top of the berg. I have not been able to find a map for the area.

Can anyone suggest where a map can be bought for the amphitheatre?
Are the rivers in the area flowing at the moment or will water be an issue?

Any suggestions and info will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi HikerParsons

We were there this weekend.

There is a lot of water.

It was also very busy, there were a lot op people. Our group was about 7 people, I think there was about 25-30 people in total sleeping on the Amphi. There were also many day hikers going up and down. So if you lose the path, there will be someone to show you the way.

Enjoy!

In less than 2 weeks time I am hiking from the Sentinel car park to Cathedral Peak. What is the safety situation at the moment, or in recent times? I know there were issues in the past, so am not sure what is happening these days as I live in Cape Town and now go there very rarely, unfortunately.

Thanks,
Adrian
