Featured Berg Images Winter 2011
The idea is to collect images with high photographic and artistic value, relating to winter (snow, ice, typical winter landscape, vegetation etc). Members may upload one image for the specified time period. Each image should be rated by all members (see rating poll when you view an image). The image with the highest rating for that period will be featured on the front page for the duration of the following period.
Images for the current period should be uploaded to the following sub-gallery:
www.vertical-endeavour.com/gallery/drakensberg/featured-images/winter-2011.html
Comments may be made under the images in the gallery, but this thread is the better place for interactive discussion.

Next time jump and try to take the pic so that only the shadow is visible.
I like the proportions of the lower body to the small upper body. With those "transformer" legs hiking should be fun.

The boots in the shot were intentionally done, I liked the visual play between the physical of the boots and their connection to my shadow. The image was actually four images stiched together.

), should I remove my Monk picture (its only on there because I didn't bother looking for a better album to put it in)? My Blind Man's Corner picture has much better composition etc (and is properly in focus)...
Personally, I feel the slight lack of focus on the Monk image may cost you there. The Blind Man pic is much better in contrast to the Monk.

Kidding! Have moved the pic of The Monk into the Drakensberg Peaks sub-gallery.

{joomplu:562 left}From right to left is the Old Woman Grinding Corn, the overlooking buttress on the escarpment, and Apes Pass. I struggled a bit with the dark lighting, so tried to make it more interesting by making the colours sepia afterwards. But it was one of those perfect timing shots with the shadows of the two peaks being cast onto the clouds.
Remember to rate each image everyone!
